Dear Parents,
We completed our first week of school! Wow! It sure was fun getting to know each other and exploring our classroom and our school. We toured Kemp and met the principal, the office staff, the nurse, the lunch ladies, and all Specials teachers. On Monday, we received a "special delivery" from Mrs. Mason. It was magic play dough. She said that if it turned colors when we squeezed it we would have a wonderful year! Yay! Everyone was excited to see the play dough change colors as we played with it at our tables. We spent time reading Chicka Chicka Boom Boom ABC to say hello to all the alphabet letters. We made our own alphabet trees and even alphabet water bottles! We read a story about a monster coming to school. He did not know how to follow the rules but eventually he figured things out and had a great time at school. We made our own monster puppets to help us remember the story. We spent time learning classroom rules and procedures and will continue to practice these in the coming weeks. The first week of Kindergarten can be hard on children as it is the first time most children spend apart from family for such a big part of the day but everyone really seemed to handle the transition well. Each week will get easier as we learn and grow together.
Thank you for your support!
