Week Six

Dear Parents,
Week Six was full of fun as we explored different jobs in our community.  The kids worked on writing about police officers, fire fighters, and doctors.  We made police officer hats and doctor bags and we even wrote about what we want to be when we grow up!

Week Five

Dear Parents,
This week the students got to go to the lunchroom to attend a performance provided by the PTA to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month.  The kids got to listen to some awesome singing and several kids even got called up to participate with the performers!  Our class was mentioned on the Morning News for our great behavior during the assembly and we even received a special poster to hang in the hallway!  In Math, we had fun identifying numbers 0-10 using play dough, die, and dot markers.  The kids got to form teams to play SLAP!, a game where you try to be the first one to slap the number called.  We ended our week with a Class Meeting on "Talking Sticks".  We learned the importance of paying attention to the "talker" by looking and listening.  We each took a turn with the talking stick to share something with our classmates.
Sincerely,

Computer Lab

Dear Parents,
Last week the kids had a great time visiting the Starfall website.  We practiced our standard of "click" and "double-click" and the kids did a great job.  This site can be found on the side bar of my blog if you would like to let your child play at home!
Sincerely,

We love reading!

Thank you, Mr. Manson, for coming to read to our class!  We love listening to a good story!!!

Pajama Day!

Dear Parents,
Since we are studying the letter Pp this week, we are finishing up the week with a Pajama Day on Friday.  Students may wear their pajamas to school to celebrate!  Please send tennis shoes for outdoor play in case the weather improves!
Sincerely,

Week Four

Dear Parents,
The class spent this week building patterns using manipulatives during our Guided Math time.  We are really getting the hang of this skill!  Due to the rain, we have had indoor recess this week.  The kids have loved playing hopscotch and visiting the homeliving and block center!  We visited the Media Center today to hear a story from Mrs. Huffstetler, our librarian.  We reviewed how to use our library sticks to keep our place when searching for books and where to sit when we are ready to read our books!  We love going to the Media Center!
Sincerely,

Patterns!

Dear Parents,
We have worked on making patterns for the last two weeks.  We know how to make ABAB, ABBABB, and ABCABC patterns!  Patterns are fun!

The Five Senses

Dear Parents,
On Friday of "The Five Senses" week, we got to taste several different foods to see which ones were salty, sweet, or sour.  Our expressions say it all!
