Week 7 Animal Features

Dear Parents,

Well, I hope to never be sick again!!!  (knocking on wood!!)  We were off to a great start this week since I dealt with the disappearing pictures on the sd card last week and I got 7 super pictures during  our math partner games before disaster struck again!!  I am really hoping this week goes peacefully.  Last week the kids worked on learning about animal features by making an Animals on the Go book and by sorting pictures of different animal features.  Apple Centers are rescheduled for this Wednesday.  Please check the sidebar for the October calendar...PE is our specials for tomorrow.  Thank you for the well wishes and hope you all enjoy your evening!

Week 6 Community Workers

Dear Parents,
I had some really great pictures of our week and sadly I lost all the pictures on my SD card.  I'm so bummed out!  I hate that I lost a whole week's worth of pictures as well as the rest of the photos I had on it!  Not sure what went wrong but tried everything I could to retrieve the lost pictures!  So sad!  
Hopefully this will be the only time this happens!

Week 5 My Community

Dear Parents,

What a busy week!  We got a visit from Brennen’s grandmother, Mrs. Finch, who made chair pockets for our classroom!  They are amazing and absolutely perfect!  Thank you, Mrs. Finch!!!  The students learned about their continent, country, state, county, city, and neighborhood this week by making a flip book (we have just one page to add to it on Monday).  It turned out cute!  We worked on our math skills this week with our table buddies by ordering numbers from 1-20, forming numerals correctly, making designs with our pattern blocks, and seeing the different ways to make 4.  We got to visit the Book Fair on Friday with our Book Buddies!  They helped the kids make their wish lists and were a great help!!!  Thank you 5^th Grade!!!  We celebrated Brennen's birthday on Wednesday and enjoyed the yummy cupcakes his mom brought!  Shawn E. was our Star Student and he did a great job of being our line leader this week!

Week 4 Home and Family

   

Dear Parents,
This week in Kindergarten we "focused on the family".  The students shared about who is in their families and made their very own family homes.  We learned that while families may look different they all love, share, play, work, and do many fun things together.  We completed math table activities to help us learn to count one and only one object per number.  We are practicing daily to count to 50.  We had great fun during free choice centers.  The students are doing a great job of helping clean up afterwards, too.  We wrapped up the week with mini pizzas for the letter Pp and a trip to the Media Center for story time and check out!   Bailey J. was our Star Student this week and we loved how her poster turned out!

Week 3 My Five Senses

Dear Parents,
This week in Kindergarten the kids worked on learning a little about the five senses each day!   We made a counting book on Monday by using our bingo dot markers to fill in a ten frame for the numbers 1-10 and played a partner game by rolling a die and counting to see who had more.  We also played a "Brown Bear Brown Bear" graph and count math game after reading the book by Bill Martin Jr. We practiced the Daily 5 by building stamina working independently in our Writing Folders.  We talked about the class friends we have made and posted our names on a chart.  Then the kids got to draw a new friend they had made and label the picture with a name from the chart.  We practiced "Read to Someone" where we are learning 3 ways to share a book:  "read" the pictures, read the words, and retell the story using the pictures.  We met with our Book Buddies on Thursday.  They have been so nice to help us choose "just right" books!  We ended the week by learning about the sense of taste.  We sampled some salty, sour, and sweet foods and then sorted pictures to match!  Kaelyn R. was our Star Student this week and we loved seeing her 3 favorite things on Thursday!
