Week 23
Dear Parents,
The students had a great week practicing their patterning skills in Math Centers. We also used our ten frames to model numbers to 30 and explored using scales to make balanced number sentences. Our Bald Eagle, Liberty Bell, and Statue of Liberty crafts came out adorable. We took what we learned and wrote our own National Symbols books. Another fun week spent learning in Kindergarten!

Happy 100th Day of School!!!
Dear Parents,
Happy 100th Day of School! Wow! Time sure does fly! I cannot believe we only have 78 more days of school!!! The kids had a blast Friday. We began by sharing our collections, which were really creative and cute. We made 100-year old portraits (which I forgot to get a picture of for this post). We counted out ten treats from ten plates to make our 100-piece snack mix. We estimated how many items were in three bottles and figured out the bottle with the pennies had 100! We worked in small groups to visit five centers: 100-piece puzzles, 100-stamp books, 100-Dixie cup towers, Race to 100, and Find 100 teddy bears! Oh, it was definitely fun to see the kids in action! Hope you enjoy the slideshow!
Sincerely,
Week 21
Dear Parents,
This week the kids worked on making their own mitten to help them retell the story The Mitten by Jan Brett. They loved hearing how all the animals fit in the mitten and how stretched out it looked afterwards. In Reading, we applied what we have learned about letter sounds and reading strategies to independently read a leveled text. We also worked in our Problem Solving journals to show our understanding of the word "under". We also got a head start on assembling our 100th Day crowns/glasses!

Dear Parents,
Our Holiday Centers were a huge success! The kids got to visit five centers: Jingo Bingo, Donut Decorating, Magic Reindeer Food, Holiday Races, and Gingerbread Decorating. Everyone had a great time together and we couldn't have done it without the help of our wonderful Room Moms--Mrs. Clark and Mrs. Donselaar as well as all of our parents who donated items and came to run centers and celebrate with the kids! I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and I look forward to seeing all of you when school starts back in January!

Week Eight
Dear Parents,
What a fun week! We spent time learning about animal babies and their parents. We enjoyed a snack sent in by Giancarlo's mom and we ended the week with a field trip! This week we also learned that learning never stops! Even during non-academic times (snack, centers, clean-up, pack-up) we learn how to share, take turns, and solve problems when the arise.
Sincerely,

Week Seven
Dear Parents,
This week we focused on Animal Characteristics. We viewed a BrainPopJr. video on animals and categorized different animals by their covering. In Math, we worked on finding patterns. The kids have done a great job naming the patterns (ABAB, ABBABB, ABCABC). On Thursday, our Book Buddies helped us play a math game and read a mini math book! In Reading, we worked at centers on identifying initial consonants, C-V-C words, and sorting alphabet letters. We have earned several compliments for our hallway behavior! Our Pompom Jar is almost full! Pretty soon, we will get to choose a class reward for making good choices!
Sincerely,
Field Trip Reminder...
Hi Parents,
Our field trip to Carlton Dairy Farms is this Friday. Please dress your child comfortably as we will be outside for the day. I forgot to mention that if you are sending a lunch from home, it will need to be in a disposable lunch bag. I will have a cooler if anything needs to be kept cold. Please label items with your child's name. If your child has an orange shirt, please wear it that day so that our class will be easily identified.
Looking forward to a fun-filled day!
